Quit Tobacco Use

Who Are You Kidding?

“I never smoke in the car or around my kids, so secondhand smoke isn’t an issue for me.”

“I’ll gain weight if I stop smoking.”

“I’ve tried to quit. It has never worked.”

“Nicotine helps me cope with stress.”

“My aunt smoked for 40 years and died of old age.”

Time to quit fooling yourself.

It’s true that nicotine is extremely addictive, and quitting is not easy. But you can join the growing ranks of former tobacco users, and Ohio State has enhanced coverage to help you quit for good.

Do it for the people who count on you to be around for the important times in their lives...the ball games, graduations, anniversaries, and holidays. Your continued use of tobacco is putting your life and their happy memories at risk.

Through a personalized combination of treatment options, you can kick the habit for good. The university provides some reimbursement for tobacco cessation programs from leading sponsors, including:

  • American Cancer Society
  • American Lung Association
  • Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute
  • Clinical Partners Program
  • OSU College of Dentistry Tobacco Cessation Clinic

The right plan for you could include individual or group counseling in conjunction with over-the-counter nicotine replacement supplements. Contact each approved program provider directly. (18kb pdf)
